Around the world, countless religions preach the belief in a Creator – each offering its unique interpretation of divine existence, meaning, and what lies beyond death. However, the contradictions between these beliefs pose a critical question: can they all be true? Some religions advocate for the existence of one God – others propose thousands, while some deny the existence of any deity altogether. Concepts of paradise, hell, reincarnation, or resurrection further diverge across these faiths. The logical conclusion is that not all religions can be true—either all are mistaken, or only one holds the ultimate truth.
Muslims confidently assert that Islam is that one true religion. The Quran – Islam’s holy scripture, declares:
“Indeed, the religion in the sight of Allah is Islam.” (Quran 3:19)
However, in a world increasingly doubtful of divine truths – many question the existence of God due to a perceived lack of evidence. When asked what kind of evidence would convince them – some suggest a miraculous event appearing directly before their eyes. However, this would be a subjective experience—an unreliable form of proof. Such miracles would only serve as evidence for the individual who witnesses them, leaving others to dismiss the claim as hallucination or fabrication. Even the one who experiences the miracle might doubt its authenticity over time – questioning whether it was a dream or figment of their imagination.
The Quran addresses this skepticism, stating:
“And even if We had sent down to them the angels [with the message], and the dead spoke to them [of it], and We gathered together every [created] thing in front of them, they would not believe unless Allah should will. But most of them are ignorant.” (Quran 6:111)
Interestingly, many skeptics readily accept scientific theories like evolution or dark matter without demanding miracles. They place their trust in the findings of scientists and the peer-reviewed scientific process, despite the fluid nature of science – which frequently evolves with new discoveries. This double standard reveals a gap in how people approach evidence for faith compared to evidence for science.
To address this, Islam does not rely solely on subjective miracles but provides a multitude of rational, spiritual, and historical proofs. These proofs, rooted in the Quran and the authentic sayings of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), collectively present a compelling case for why Islam is the ultimate truth and the final divine message for humanity. The following content explores such evidence, designed to be understood as a cohesive whole that underscores Islam’s validity and divine origin.
The Quran – claims to be the word of God
The Quran proudly asserts that it is the direct word of Allah – revealed in Arabic to the unlettered Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). It invites doubters to identify any one mistake or inconsistency, asserting:
“Then do they not reflect upon the Quran? If it had been from [any] other than Allah, they would have found within it much contradiction.” (Quran 4:82)
This assertion is distinct, as no other publication—whether scientific or historical—can claim such flawlessness. Its enduring consistency throughout centuries reinforces the conviction that it is a divine revelation.
The unmatched preservation of the Quran
The Quran is a distinctive text that has stayed unaltered for more than 1,400 years, upholding Allah’s assurance of safeguarding, “Indeed, it is We who sent down the Quran, and indeed, We will be its guardian” (Quran 15:9). In contrast to other ancient texts that have been modified, the Quran has been preserved through written documentation and the oral practice of memorization by millions, even young children. This remarkable preservation, despite lacking modern printing in its early years, stands as evidence of its divine origin and lasting authenticity.
Scientific Insights in the Quran
The Quran includes scientific knowledge that was not recognized 1,400 years ago, highlighting its celestial source. For example, it outlines the phases of embryonic growth in remarkable detail, information that was unreachable at the time without contemporary technology. Furthermore, the Quran mentions aspects such as the universe’s expansion and the vital importance of water as the foundation of all life, ideas that science only validated centuries afterward. These instances emphasize the deep insights found in the Quran, creating a connection between belief and logic, and strengthening its legitimacy as a text revealed by the divine.
Universal Memorization
The Quran is distinct among religious scriptures for being memorized universally by millions, including children as young as six, many of whom are not Arabic speakers. This remarkable achievement fulfills the Quran’s assertion that it is simple to recall (54:17). The reliability of memorization among various cultures and languages guarantees that the text stays intact and unaltered, showcasing its sacred safeguarding. This remarkable phenomenon highlights the Quran’s availability and deep spiritual bond for Muslims around the globe.
Haman in the Quran
Haman mentioned in the Quran as the main architect of Pharaoh – is a character whose significance corresponds with historical discoveries. The Quran recounts Pharaoh ordering Haman to construct a lofty tower (28:38). Critics previously asserted this was an error, since Haman is depicted in the Bible as a servant of a Persian monarch. Nonetheless, following the 19th-century interpretation of Egyptian hieroglyphs through the Rosetta Stone, Egyptologists recognized Haman as a supervisor of stonemasons in ancient Egypt. This finding, undetectable 1,400 years back, further supports the Quran’s historical accuracy.
Observational Proofs
The Quran includes many mentions of natural events that were not understood 1,400 years ago but correspond with contemporary scientific understanding. Even without sophisticated instruments in the 7th century – the Quran assertively outlines truths regarding the world and the universe. For instance, Allah stated that, “Have those who disbelieved not considered that the heavens and the earth were a joined entity, and We separated them and made from water every living thing? Then will they not believe it?” [21:30]
This relates to the unknown theory that all life comes from water – which was not accepted at the time. The Quran expresses the sky as a barrier of shielding: “And We made the sky a protected ceiling, but they, from its signs, are turning away.” [21:32]
The atmosphere shields us from harmful emissions and meteorites, which is related to this. Furthermore, the Quran illustrates the mountains as possessing deep foundations: “Have We not made the earth a resting place? And the mountains as stakes?” [78:6-7]
Mountains possess deep roots, akin to stakes, a finding that was validated solely in the 20th century. These revelations, uncovered by a desert community, contest the notion that they might have been authored by humans, implying that they were from Allah, the all-knowing.
Not only a religion; But a Way of Life
Islam is not just a religion, it circumscribes a comprehensive lifestyle. The Quran and Sunnah offer guidance on all aspects of human life, starting from daily actions like sleeping and eating to relationships with others, including interactions with family or society. It addresses ethical behavior, community obligations, and personal cleanliness, promoting a balanced, principled, and harmonious existence.
Quranic Proof for God
The Quran offers three scenarios concerning the creation of humanity, which are also applicable to the universe: “Were they created by nothing, or were they the creators [of themselves]? Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Rather, they are not certain.” [52:35-46]
These lines imply that humanity either has existed forever, brought itself into being, or was brought into existence. Evidently, we were not always present or self-created, leading to the only rational deduction: humanity had a Creator. The inquiry into “Who made the Creator?” results in endless regression, which is unreasonable. This suggests the idea of an uncaused cause, consistent with the belief that Allah is eternal and self-sufficient. This argument, uncovered in the 7th century, continues to serve as strong evidence for God’s existence.
Miracles and signs of Prophethood
Allah, the exalted and mighty, bestowed upon His Prophet Muhammad (blessings and peace be upon him) many miracles and evident signs to validate the genuineness of his Prophethood and the veracity of his message. Among these wonders were occurrences like the moon’s splitting, the exaltation of Allah by stones and food, the water flowing from his fingers, and the astounding multiplication of food, all observed by numerous individuals. These occurrences were conveyed via trustworthy chains of narration, attaining the status of tawatur, which confirms their certainty.
A miracle of this nature is described by ‘Abdullah ibn Mas‘ud, who recounted: “We were on a journey with the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace be upon him) when our water supply became scarce. He said: ‘Bring me some leftover water.’ When they presented a small amount, he placed his hand in it and said: ‘Come to a blessed, purifying water; and the blessing is from Allah.’ I saw water flowing from between his fingers, and we could hear the food glorifying Allah as it was being consumed.” (Narrated by al-Bukhari, 3579)
Prophecies
The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) predicted future occurrences, which took place precisely as he described, demonstrating divine revelation. An instance is the prediction regarding a blaze arising in the region of Hijaz, which would light up the necks of the camels in Busra. He stated: “The Hour will not begin until a fire emerges in the land of the Hijaz which will illuminate the necks of the camels in Busra.” (Narrated by al-Bukhari (7118) and Muslim (2902))
This event occurred in 654 AH, 644 years after his death, as reported by historians. Letters from the Hijaz described the fire, which illuminated the surroundings without heat, confirming the prophecy. It was a sign of Allah’s power.
This is merely a quick summary of some of the numerous arguments in favor of Islam that can be useful. This evidence gives us confidence that Islam is accurate. In order for our children, who are growing up in secular settings, to deepen their religion, it is imperative that we explain things to others. Since there is nothing comparable, the Quran itself serves as the final proof for Muslims. These arguments may persuade individuals who are reluctant to study it to consider the book of Allah. Since Allah will lead those who really seek His direction, I urge everyone looking for the truth to read the Quran with an open mind and heart.
